What's in the box, against the list
Left: the Ready.gov Basic Disaster Supplies Kit, word for word. Right: what The Apartment 72 does about each line. Where a kit can't cover something, we say so.

Questions
Is this an official government kit?
No. There's no official kit. We're an independent company. We take the free public list from Ready.gov and do the shopping, packing and expiry tracking for you. The list itself is free at ready.gov/kit, and you can build it yourself.
Will this keep us safe for 72 hours?
No kit can promise that. It covers the Ready.gov basics in a small box. What you'll need depends on your home, your health and the emergency. Add the "You add" items, and follow local officials.
Why isn't all the water included?
Honest maths: 1 gallon per person per day means 6 gallons for 2 people for 3 days, about 50 lb. That can't fit in a compact kit. We include day-one water pouches and a filter, and show you how much to store.
Do you include medicines?
No. We supply no medicines and give no medical advice. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about keeping a spare supply and storing it safely.
What happens to my quiz answers?
Nothing. The Shutdown Score runs entirely in your browser. Your answers are never sent to us or anyone else, and they're gone when you close the page.
When does it ship?
We'll give you a real ship date by email before taking any payment. We won't charge until we can stand behind that date.
